Specialist Dance Courses

Throughout the year we host a number of specialised Dance courses aimed at giving pupils the opportunity to develop their skills and work with experienced professional artists. The courses include;

Homegrown, a company directed by Julia Williams the former Dance Adviser for Cheshire, now Director of the national Dance Teachers Association is the company we use to deliver Dance Education.

Homegrown is an umbrella term for a collective of individuals who historically have grown up, participated in, delivered on and led dance in intensive and residential settings throughout Cheshire and beyond, primarily working with the Conway Centre.

In the last three years students have gone go on to study dance at Laban, London Contemporary Dance School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, The Hammond, Middlesex University, Roehampton University and more. Cheshire young people  have also been accepted on to Centre for Advanced Training Schemes in London and Yorkshire. Older members of CYDC have gone on to have successful careers with companies such as CandoCo, Scottish Dance Theatre, Maresa Von Stockart, Ludus and many more.  This is a result of providing a very diverse range of opportunities that engage both the body and the mind and help develop very confident and realistic young people.

Five Day Course for Year 9 Upwards

The course runs from a Tuesday to a Saturday and culminates in a performance in a theatre setting. It begins with  a Graduate performance which acts as a stimulus to produce a number of choreographed pieces. The young people participate in a number of different dance mediums including Contemporary, Jazz, Street and Ballet which is reflected in the final performance. It's an opportunity to be creative and develop pieces with the continued input of dance professionals.
