The Challenge to Geography

KS2

At this level the pupils are required to develop geographic skills; for example they ask geographical questions, as well as begin to collect and record evidence and analyzing the evidence in order to draw conclusions. To further enhance their learning we have a number of studies that can compare data for two localities. The pupils are taught how to use appropriate fieldwork techniques such as labeled field sketches, the use of appropriate instruments and the correct use of maps and plans; sometimes they may use secondary sources of information in their follow up work.

KS3

A number of field-studies have been developed at the centres to cover the specific elements of the Geography curriculum. Apart from the ‘first hand’ study of the Geographic concepts of space, interdependence, sustainable development and environmental interaction; there will also be an emphasis on personal learning and thinking skills. All courses provide a direct link to the work undertaken in the classroom and will help to achieve the requirements of the syllabus. They will look at the links between the Key Concepts and Key Processes involved in the Geography National Curriculum.

GCSE

We have developed a range of studies to meet with the new requirements for the GCSE Geography Controlled Assessment; whether AQA, Edexel, OCR or WJEC we can provide a course that will link directly to the work in the classroom and will help to achieve the requirements of the syllabus. When studying difficult concepts there needs to be a great of pupil involvement; pupils will really get a grasp of the concepts of space, interdependence, sustainable development and environmental interaction in following these fieldwork courses.

AS/A

These programmes have clearly stated outcomes and links to curriculum specification requirements, depending on which exam board you are following. Detailed field-study programmes have been developed for those studying Geography at AS and A2 level, under the following exam boards; AQA, Edexel, OCR and WJEC. Before booking an AS/A level Geography fieldwork programme, please contact us for a study outline of the course as they can be produced specifically for your requirements and are often the most cost effective way of visiting any form of centre to fulfil your fieldwork needs.
