Conway Centres: Field Studies
The residential services have been used by schools, both Secondary and Primary, to deliver their Environmental and Field Studies courses over many years. The variety, availability and quality of field study sites just a short distance away from our centres, or in particular at the Conway Centre, are almost unequalled in Britain.
We firmly believe in Learning Outside the Classroom; in what is sometimes termed the Outdoor Classroom, this is an unrivalled resource. Even though the specifications for compulsory coursework have been removed or changed in the curriculum there is still a requirement for school to undertake fieldwork. We believe that we can still provide a good basis for field studies at our centres, and that this will be of great benefit to pupils and schools.
The Outdoor Classroom is the place where:
- Textbook concepts and dry theories come to life
- Individual and practical investigations can be developed
- Ideas, facts and interests can be pooled
- Students can be enthused, starting an interest that lasts a lifetime
- Learning will be linked to enjoyment
