I joined Conway Centres: Anglesey in 2008. Since 1995 I have gained experience of teaching in mainstream and special needs schools, local authority outdoor education centres and criminal justice settings. My drive and motivation comes from seeing learners develop; through overcoming challenges, exploring new environments and beginning to realise just what their full potential might be. One recent strong memory is the laughter of a young lady as she helped steer one of our motor launches through some strong waves- the cause of the laughter? I think it was the feeling of freedom as the wind whipped salt spray across the boat and into her face- something which as a continuous user of bottled oxygen she had never experienced before. In addition to a BA Hons in Geography and Sports Science I hold a PGCE in 11-18 Physical Education. Outdoor qualifications include Summer and Winter Mountain Leader Awards, Level 3 Canoe and Kayak Coach, plus 5 Star leader award in Canoe, Dinghy Instructor, Level 2 Raft Guide, Mountain Bike Trail cycle leader, Single Pitch Award. I became an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute of Outdoor Learning in 2009. My personal interests involve being outdoors and active as often as I can manage!
